Last month, employees from San Francisco’s Levi’s Strauss office came out to the garden for a busy workday. Each year, Levi’s employees around the world head out of the office and into the community, and this year we were fortunate to host 30 volunteers in the June Jordan garden thanks to our partnership with HandsOn Bay Area.
This group was fantastic and incredibly hard working. We had an ambitious agenda planned and completed nearly all of our extensive projects! In just 3 hours we irrigated the new 30′ greenhouse, installed a solar pump in our new wine barrel fountain, began the installation of a rain barrel water collection system off the side of our newly painted chicken coop, moved our comfy hay bale sofa to a new location, hula hoed the decomposed granite in our new garden, mixed concrete and installed permanent garden benches, weeded, mulched and even planted some new flowers. It was a long and exhausting morning, but the energy was high and our garden looked beautiful after we were done.
In addition to donating many hours of labor, Levi’s made a generous donation to Urban Sprouts to help support the work that we do. Thanks Levi’s!
