Raul Hernandez

I am a first generation American, both my parents immigrated from Mexico because they wanted a better future for their children. My parents taught me the importance of protecting my family and giving back to my community. By the age of seven I was already exposed to rallies, our legislative system, and advocacy work. Throughout my academic career I advocated for safer school legislation and social equity. It wasn’t until I participated in the Urban Sprouts program at Ida B. Wells that I understood the importance of urban gardening and how it can help create community. Since then I worked with organizations such as, GSANetwork, CUAV, EQCA, SF Mime Troupe, Hidden Villa, and the San Francisco Boys & Girls Club. I am more than excited to work as a Garden Educator for Urban Sprouts. I hope to make an impact on my students the way my Garden Educator had an impact on me.an excited to work as a Garden Educator for Urban Sprouts.
