Kareen Patterson

Having grown up on a farm, Kareen has a deep love and appreciation for the earth and its gifts. Her passion for food was reignited several years ago when she taught nutrition at an elementary school as an AmeriCorps member. This experience inspired her to attend Bauman College so she could dive deeper into the nutrition by earning certificates in Nutrition Education and Nutrition Consulting. Teaching nutrition to K-6 students for four years was an incredible joy and an honor. She is now in graduate candidate for a Master of Arts at the California Institute of Integral Studies. She is also interning at Urban Sprouts, and enjoying learning how farming in an urban setting can empower people to enjoy healthy, nutritious food. She is interested in the positive impacts that knowledge of ecology and gardening can have on young people and their families.
